Carrying the Legacy Forward: SIS' Teen Queens Present the Karen C. McElrath Award Essays

The final segment of the Karen C. McElrath Legacy Award showcased powerful essay presentations from our Teen Queens, as they shared what the nonprofit organization truly means to them. Each participant was evaluated and awarded points based on presentation skills, confidence, storytelling, spelling, and grammar.

Their presentations featured an attention-grabbing introduction, highlighted one of our seven key initiatives, and demonstrated how they personally embody that initiative. Our Teen Queens also shared their five-year vision and outlined how they plan to use the $500 award to support their goals and growth.

The experience was filled with heartfelt moments, as several Teen Queens found the courage to speak before an audience for the very first time. Watching them step outside of their comfort zones and confidently share their stories was truly inspiring and a powerful reflection of the impact of this program.
